Background
Amber Walker joined the Athey Lab for summer 2026 through the University of Michigan Volunteer Services placement route. Her project measures empirical error rates and bias in single-molecule DNA sequencers, with secondary work on pharmacogenomic adaptive sampling, and she now works on the fine-tuning of basecalling models and on long-read telomere sequencing. She contributed to the lab's end-reason study.
