Background
Diya Kannappan joined the Athey Lab in 2024 and co-leads its work on the programmable nuclease activity of Cas9. She works on SMA-seq, the lab's measurement of per-read error against synthetic molecular barcodes, which she previously led, and on the CLC fragment analysis assay and long-read telomere sequencing. She studied how nanopore end-reason classifications relate to sequencing outcomes, work that is going into a manuscript in preparation on end-reason filtering in native- DNA nanopore sequencing.
