Background
Renly Hou worked in the Athey Lab on machine learning for biomedical imaging, co-advised with Todd Hollon. With the lab he contributed to the study of valproic acid induced changes in nuclear morphology in astrocytes and to foreground-aware virtual staining for three dimensional cell morphological profiling. His wider graduate work applies self-supervised and multimodal learning to clinical problems, including label-free optical imaging of brain tumors and the integration of imaging, genomic, and language data for patient survival prediction.
